How I work
I see each person or couple as being distressed in some way by the loss or potential loss of something very important to them – this may be the loss of hope, of self, of a relationship, of another person, health, way of life or the death of someone close to them. I use different approaches depending on what I sense will work best with you.
The theories I have integrated into my way of working include Client Centred, Cognitive-Behavioural, Attachment and Imago Couples Therapy.
"Virginia was a big part of my recovery from anxiety and depression. She showed me skills to use and then encouraged and supported me in using them" Alison
"Thanks for all your help. I learned so much"
"Virginia is the reason that I am living life fully today and for that I am truly grateful" Alison

Certified Imago Couples Therapist
I am a proud Wellingtonian and have lived here for most of life apart from time spent travelling in Asia and Europe in my 20's and 3 1/2 years living in Sweden.
I have three wonderful adult children and five beautiful grandchildren who I love spending time with.
I believe in living as fully as possible, strive to keep a good balance between the different areas of my life and have been told that I am a friendly, non-judgemental person.
As an adult student I completed a B.A.(Psych) at Victoria University followed by a Diploma in Counselling at WelTec. I worked as a counsellor and then Team Leader at Wesley Counselling Service for four years followed by four years at Relationships Aotearoa counselling individuals and couples and co-facilitating the "Parenting Through Separation" programme. I completed training to become a Certified Imago Couples Therapist in 2008 and have continued to attend further Imago trainings both in New Zealand and overseas and am now an Advanced Imago Couples Therapist.
